INTRODUCTION

Hi everyone My name is Victoria Zumbrum, 40 years old, married 14 years with 1 son. This is my very first blog. So bear with me. I have always wanted to have my own blog. I have always loved to read. I enjoy getting lost in a good book.
I love becoming part of the story and characters. I am hoping to bring my love of books to my readers.

I love reading different genres such as paranormal, young adult, romance, romantic suspense, mystery, Christian fiction, some horror, etc. The list goes on. I started reviewing books a couple of years ago and have done reviews for different blogs and even some authors. I really have enjoyed reviewing books and I will continue to do so. If anyone is interested in me reviewing a book for them, please contact me. I still have a lot to learn regarding my own blog so bear with me. I welcome and appreciate all followers.

Author Interview of Giulietta Maria Spudich

GIRL WITH PEN WANTS TO GIVE A WARM WELCOME TO GIULIETTA MARIA SPUDICH.  I HAVE HAD THE PLEASURE OF READING SOME OF HER BOOKS.  SHE HAS BEEN KIND ENOUGH TO TAKE TAKE OUT OF HER BUSY SCHEDULE TO ANSWER SOME OF MY READER'S QUESTIONS.

BIOGRAPHY:

I was born in Berkeley, California in 1973 (Peace!) and "hopped the pond" to England in 2002. I've also lived in New York and Houston, and travelled worldwide teaching science for my day job. With relatives in both the US and Italy, and friends all over the earth, writing on airplanes and trains is one of my favorite activities.

My late cat Smokey disciplined me in my writing life by sitting firm and unmovable on my lap. I thank him for his help in many of my books.

AUTHOR INTERVIEW:

Q: Can you tell us a little about yourself to start?

I live in Cambridge, England, though I was born in Berkeley, California and am half Italian. My name has an Italian spelling- my parents loved the actress Giulietta Masina, who starred in Fellini movies, and I’m partly named after her. I published two books this year: one for adults, Painting Pretoria (published by Books To Go Now), where Anna goes to the beautiful Maine coast to heal her wounded heart, and a book for middle-grade readers (9-12 year olds), The Amber Giant (published by Handersen Publishing), an adventure where Caroline goes into the Himalayas to wake a sleeping giant.

Q: How are you feeling now that your latest book is out & on tour?

I am excited about both books being out. There is also a feeling of unknown- the stories are out there, but who is reading them and what do they think? I’m really curious about what readers respond to in my stories, and I love to hear from them.

Q: Do you have favorite author whose books you love to read?

I love Tolkien and have read The Lord of the Rings a couple times. Currently, I’m enjoying Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series.

Q: What is your favorite genre to read & write?

I read so many different genres, I couldn’t pick a favorite. I like to read contemporary fiction, fantasy, science fiction, and books for young adults and younger! Probably the only thing I wouldn’t read is a thriller- I get too frightened. I am most enjoying writing children’s (middle-grade) fiction at the moment, as I can be as creative as I’d like.

Q: Are you currently working on a new book at this time?

I’m writing a book for either the middle-grade or slightly older (Young Adult) audience. It’s an adventure that centres around four teenage girls. One of the girls is taken by an evil sorcerer to a magical island, and the other three discover their powers as they try to rescue her.

Q: What was the first thing that came to your mind when your first book was published?

I can’t believe it!

Q: Can you share something with everyone that inspires you?

Lots inspires me. Good friends, and also truly kind acts. People who look after each other during illness or injury- healers inspire me. Dance and music inspire me as well.

Q: If you could have dinner with anyone in the world who would it be & why?

Maybe Viggo Mortensen. I so enjoyed his role in Captain Fantastic and would like to hear more about that.

Q: As a child what did you want to do when you grew up?

I wanted to be an astronaut for awhile. I loved space!

Q: Which do you prefer paperback, hardback or ebooks & why?

Paperbacks. I like the way they feel and even smell.

Q: What are you currently reading? Are you enjoying it? What format is it in (ebook, hardback or paperback) and who is the author?

I’m reading a few books at the moment. Voyager, the third book in the Outlander series (paperback). Mahayana Myths and Stories by Sangharakshita, which is a commentary on Buddhist sutras (paperback). And I’m reading Innamorarsi a Notting Hill by Ali McNamara- a chick-lit novel translated into Italian (hardback).

Q: What are your favorite types of heroines? Do you like the damsel in distress who needs saving or the kick-ass variety? Why?

I definitely like the kick-ass variety, ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’- style. Something about the strength of women inspires me- women showing their strength rather than hiding it.

Coffee or Tea? Coffee!
Chocolate or Vanilla? Vanilla
Kinky or Sweet? Sweet
Sunset or Sunrise? Sunset
Steak or Chicken? Vegetarian
Cats or Dogs? Cats
Summer or Winter? Summer

THANK YOU GIULIETTA MARIA SPUDICH.  IT HAS BEEN A REAL PLEASURE TO HAVE YOU ON MY BLOG.  MY READERS AND I HAVE REALLY ENJOYED GETTING TO KNOW YOU.  I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO READING YOUR NEW BOOKS AND RECOMMEND TO MY READERS TO CHECK OUT YOUR OTHER BOOKS TOO.

  3. Delightful interview, Giuletta! I'm not writing popular fiction just now (working on my creative non-fiction/fantasy magnum opus about the mother-daughter bond) but I have fond memories of working with you in our anthologies for Books to Go Now.
