They thought the biggest problem they faced was each other.

After Bleu, Rana, and their new friends narrowly prevent war between the star beings and humans, they hope the upcoming negotiation will secure the peace. Newly emerged from their subterranean haven, the Northern Haven humans are clearly not suited to Earth’s ice age, and require assistance from the enlightened star beings to survive long term on the Surface. But Commander Savas doesn’t trust the suspiciously kind star beings and their unexplainable abilities. When both sides reluctantly negotiate a joint mission to find the other Havens, Bleu must somehow cooperate with the manipulative commander to keep his friends safe.

As their team confronts unexpected dangers, Bleu and his teammates begin to suspect the star beings don’t know as much about the Surface as they claimed, while Rana is torn between remaining true to her nonviolent ways or becoming more human to survive. When an unnatural predator attacks, even the nearly all-knowing Kalakanya can’t explain it. Now the team must pull together or their new discovery will pull them apart, limb by limb.

Read an Excerpt

As the sun descended behind the mountain and darkness crept across the frozen field, a strange dread seeped into Bleu’s bones. It felt like a warning, an alarm that danger lurked nearby.

He had known safety in Rana’s village, and he’d lost the spatial anxiety caused by the wide-open spaces of the Surface that differed so much from the cozy walls and tunnels of home. No, this unease wasn’t spatial anxiety to the openness of the sky and horizon.

This was different, and perhaps a bit similar to what Kahali feared. Bleu had never faced the possibility of other humans with guns. His team sat out in the open, exposed. The meager light from the cooking fire did nothing against the shroud of blackness surrounding them. No safe walls protected them from physical attacks or bullets. And then, there were the unknown predators of the region.

His earlier excitement of finding the footprints evaporated, leaving behind a gnawing awareness of their vulnerability. The darkness beyond the campfire could be punctured any moment by monstrous claws or gunfire. Childhood tales of the evil Undescended crowded his mind with images so ludicrously terrible that he wanted to laugh at himself.

Instead, he checked that they were all armed and sent Savas and Neviah to make sure the helicopters were locked. Animal calls and crunching footsteps drifted down the mountains as if something were encircling them. Even the confident star beings kept glancing out into the night. They should be comfortable in such wilderness, right?

Compiled by Founder Amy Edge

Genre: Nonfiction, Women's Inspirational

To all of the women who’ve decided to light a fire in their lives and step out into the spotlight.

Many of us live our whole lives with this nagging feeling like there is something wrong with us. Somehow, others are more worthy, have it more together, or understand something about life that we don’t.

This is something that plagues so many of us, and it breaks my heart. We secretly feel unworthy, and we are afraid to take the risk to let others see us as we are.

This book collaboration is written by women for women like you. Those that are ready to break free of the status quo and the mindless hamster wheel of life. It is for our sisterhood. Our authors are standing in the uncomfortableness of telling their raw and proactive stories so they can show other women, you, if you speak up and say what you believe, want, or need, and are ready to feel your power and make yourself heard -- there is so much enlightenment on the other side.

The Rising Sisterhood's pages reflect the intimate choices that were made to rise above challenging situations and as a result, live extraordinary lives.

Amy Edge founded The Rising Sisterhood based on an idea that kept ‘nagging’ her, the idea began as a quiet whisper that eventually grew and grew, until action and momentum took hold. She began this journey with just that, “grit.” Unaware if she was capable of creating the platform she felt was needed, she began to lock arms with the incredible authors that would shape the first book of The Rising Sisterhood. From there, Amy has built a small army of dedicated women who are ready to disrupt the current status quo of authenticity.

She truly believes that each person is granted a unique story and that every single story deserves to be told. And, that every sister deserves a safe place to feel welcomed, celebrated, encouraged, and lifted up as we all rise and change our own narratives.

When Amy is not running alongside her sisters in The Rising Sisterhood movement she is building her Operations & Team Consultancy business of over eight years. She is the quintessential best friend of change-makers. She complements the blue-sky audacious goals of her visionary counterparts. She blends her skills of project management, team leadership, and GSD attitude into the equation to help achieve (and exceed) their business goals. With her strategic partnership, she helps businesses increase profit, empower their teams, and scale their businesses.

Through these efforts, her support enables her clients and their businesses the ‘space’ needed to create generational wealth that empowers our future entrepreneurs while building their own legacy.

For Better & For Worse

These ex-lovebirds are busy building a nest for one. But can she be convinced to make room for him, too?

Despite attending the same congregation and university, Ashe and Stephen's circles had never seemed to cross.

One class project changed everything...for the better; until secrecy and youthful indiscretion pulled them apart.

Will an unexpectant reunion in their adult years allow Ashe and Stephen to rewrite a history riddled with regret and heartbreaking choices?

Excerpt One:

“It’s open, Dear. Come on in. We’re all in the backyard,” she heard an unfamiliar woman’s voice say over the doorbell’s integrated camera and intercom system.

“Oh,” she responded, bending down a bit to look into the camera as she resettled the pan in both hands. Unsure if the ghost that’d just occupied the device was still there, she decided to err on the side of caution and manners. “Thank you.”

Rebalancing her offering on one hand, she wrapped her free hand around the cool, metal door knob. The scent of bar-b-que, the sound of laughter and an overwhelming sense of home and comfort greeted her as she took her first steps inside the cozy home. Her shoulders relaxed as she continued to follow the sounds of something sizzling on the grill and of voices that felt both familiar and foreign.

Though Ashe paused, the hairs on her skin slowly stood on end.

That didn’t sound like Josiah or Liam. And yet, she recognized that man’s voice from somewhere. She tilted her head to one side, blinking through a fog of memory.

“Ashe,” the voice insisted.

Recognition rippled down Ashe’s spine; she knew who was standing just a few feet behind her.

And if she could have just kept walking, she would have; but her body betrayed her— turning of its own volition to meet the source.

The world became dull except for the man who carefully stood from his chair, tossing his book upon the seat’s cushion before striding toward Ashe. He stood in sharp contrast against the scenery that seemed to have become a blur. When he stopped, he was so close she could catch a faint whiff of soap intertwined with a husky, sweet aroma.

He changed colognes, came the wayward thought in Ashe’s mind.

Without hesitation, he drops to the floor. He struggles for a moment to open the cabinet door. I installed a child safety lock since I store cleaning products under the sink. I tense as I wait for him to say something, but he remains silent. He doesn’t even look up at me in confusion.

Once he has the door open, he moves the cleaning products aside and rotates until he’s lying on his back.

An involuntary gasp escapes me. I curl my lips around my teeth and struggle to slow my breathing. Seeing his firm body spread out in my kitchen floor with his head under my sink just might be one of the hottest images I’ve ever seen.

His shirt pulls tight against his body, highlighting the curves and ridges of his chest. A chest I once explored for hours on end. Like an idiot, I let my eyes shift down. His dress pants do nothing to hide the bulge between his legs.

I take a deep breath and turn my gaze away. Nothing good can come from fantasizing about his package. His very generous and talented package.

“Can you hand me the small screwdriver from my bag?” His voice echoes from beneath the cabinet, dragging me out of my lust-filled stupor.

“I’m sorry, what?” My mind fixates on a single word he said and everything else fades into the background. Screw. Yes, please. I’d very much like to screw again.

He shifts his head slightly so he can look at me. “My bag. I can’t reach it. There’s a screwdriver just inside the zipper. Can you get it for me?”

“Oh, yes.” I step over him and kneel next to his bag. From this angle I can see his handsome face and strong arms. He looks serious and deep in thought, similarly to how he looked that first day I built up the courage to talk to him.

I shake my head and when my eyes come back into focus, he’s watching me watch him. I’d been so lost in my thoughts; I didn’t notice when his eyes met mine.

“Yeah, sorry. Screwdriver.” I unzip his bag—doing everything in my power to not think about unzipping his pants instead—and find the screwdriver right away. I hand it to him, quickly stand, and move away before I do something stupid like pounce him and rip all of his clothes off.
