Praise for From Under the Stairs
★★★★★ ‘This was a gripping, tense, folkloric horror read. The author perfectly underscored the heavy atmosphere the characters found themselves in by introducing powerful supernatural forces that kept the reader on the edge of their seat.’ — Anthony Avina, Author/Writer/Blogger
★★★★★ ‘The horror aspects were truly terrifying and there were some nice twists that took me by surprise.’ — Amber’s Fuzzy Life
★★★★★ ‘What a read! A folklore-driven horror, sometimes gory, but so much more. The author succeeds in bringing the small town to life through vivid descriptions and an unsettling sense that something is not quite right.’ — Simply Honest Reviews
★★★★★ ‘I loved this book! Classic spooky, spooky, spooky! Exactly what I needed. The building layers of scares and dread are palpable. And then … the heart … well it’s a racing. I think it would make a great movie.’ — Goodreads Review
MY REVIEW:
I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN I DECIDED TO READ FROM UNDER THE STAIRS BY ALAN GOLBOURN, AUTHOR. WOW, WHAT A TERRIFIC READ. THIS STORY IS VERY WELL WRITTEN WITH VERY BELIEVABLE CHARACTERS. KAYCE'S LOVE FOR HER SON, ARCHIE FEELS SO REAL AND BELIEVABLE AND YOU CAN FEEL THE GRIEF AND HEARTACHE OF HER LOSING THE LOVE OF HER LIFE AND ARCHIE LOSING HIS FATHER. BOTH KAYCE AND ARCHIE ARE BARELY HANGING ON WHEN KAYCE DECIDES A FRESH START IS WHAT THEY BOTH NEEDED BUT SHE NEVER IN MILLION YEARS WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THIS TOWN WAS FILLED WITH SO MUCH EVIL. I LOVE THE RELATIONSHIP SHE MAINTAIN WITH HER FATHER-IN-LAW. THEY ARE SO VERY CLOSE AND I WAS GLAD HE WAS THERE WITH THEM. ALAN GOLBOURN DID AN EXCELLENT JOB IN DESCRIBING THIS TOWN AND THE CREEPY FEELING THIS TOWN IS LEAVING IN THE READER'S HEART. I WAS KEPT ENGAGED FROM THE VERY BEGINNING TO THE VERY END. THERE WAS A LOT GOING ON AND I COULD NOT PREDICT WHAT WOULD HAPPEN NEXT. THIS IS SUPERNATURAL HORROR AT IT'S BEST AND LEADS THE READER ON AN UNBELIEVABLE JOURNEY FILLED WITH UNKNOWNS, HORROR, BUILDING SUSPENSE AND THE UNBELIEVABLE LOVE OF FAMILY THAT STICKS TOGETHER UNTIL THE END. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A BRILLANT SUPERNATURAL HORROR STORY, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND FROM UNDER THE STAIRS. ALAN GOLBOURN HAS BECOME ANOTHER FAVORITE AUTHOR OF MINE AND I CAN'T WAIT TO READ MORE OF HIS BOOKS. 5 STARS
