Review of Dream Catcher by Emily Casilli

Summer Camp is coming! Peyton heads out with her friends for good summer fun. They soon learn that the camp has rumors. Peyton ends up making friends with one of the Native Americans, Malachy. He is quiet, but for some reason he will talk to her. Many of the people came here because of the theories that there was a full out slasher episode at the camp. They never found evidence though. That's all good and fine until dead bodies start popping up. Either someone is making the theories true, or they weren't rumors at all. Tropes/Elements: Hot Summer Romance/New Adult Summer Camp Slashers Mystery/Horror Native American Love Interest Folklore Curses And Bad Omens Nature And Spirit All The Thrills

MY REVIEW:

PEYTON AND HER BEST FRIEND HEAD TO SUMMER CAMP TO HAVE SOME FUN. THEY SOON LEARN THAT THERE ARE RUMORS OF CAMPERS BEING MURDERED BUT NO BODIES ARE EVER DISCOVERED. WHEN BODIES START SHOWING UP AT CAMP, MAYBE THE RUMORS ARE TRUE OR SOMEONE IS MAKING THE THEORIES TRUE. WITH THE HELP OF A NATIVE AMERICAN, MALACHY, PEYTON TRIES TO DISCOVER THE TRUE OF WHAT IS REALLY HAPPENING.

DREAM CATCHER IS SO DIFFERENT FROM ANYTHING YOU ARE GOING TO READ. THERE ARE SO MANY DIFFERENT TROPES IN THE STORY SUCH AS ROMANCE, SLASHER, MYSTERY, HORROR, FOLKLORE CURSES, BAD OMENS, NATURE AND SPIRIT. I WAS HOOKED FROM THE FIRST PAGE AND ENJOYED THE STORY. THE AUTHOR HAS CREATED A LOT OF TWISTS AND TURNS THROUGHOUT THE STORY THAT LEAVES YOU GUESSING UNTIL THE VERY END. ALTHOUGH THE STORY COMPLETELY HELD MY INTEREST, I THOUGHT THE STORY DRAGGED OUT TOO LONG WITH THE KILLINGS. I WOULD HAVE LOVED TO READ MORE ABOUT NATIVE AMERICAN LEGENDS AND CURSES INCLUDED IN THE STORY.  I LOVE READING BOOKS ABOUT HORROR/NATIVE AMERICAN LEGENDS. I WAS DISAPPOINTED WITH THE END.  I WAS LOOKING FOR MORE TO BE EXPLAINED. 3.5

Emily Casilli I have a BAS in MIS. I love creating characters that have complex personalities and purposes. I want to make stories that raise questions and inspire others. I have two adorable Pomeranians, Clementine and Penelope. I like to write stories that blur genres a bit. Most of my stories include horror, fantasy, and romance elements.
