Author Interview of Tammy Tate
GIRL WITH PEN GIVES A WARM WELCOME TO BEST SELLING AUTHOR TAMMY TATE. TAMMY HAS TAKEN TIME OUT OF HER BUSY SCHEDULE TO ANSWER SOME OF MY READERS QUESTIONS. THANK YOU TAMMY FOR BEING HERE.
AUTHOR INTERVIEW QUESTIONS
Q: Can you tell us a little about yourself to start?
I have a hard time remembering life before romance novels, but here’s my best recollection. About twenty years ago a friend of mine handed me my first romance novel. Of course, my initial reaction was I didn’t have time to read it. I had a husband, six horses, two Rottweilers and three kids, need I say more? One night, I picked it up and began to read. Needless to say, I found it captivating and never made it to bed that night. From that day on I was hooked. Then one day I told my husband I wanted to write a romance novel of my own. He never batted an eye. To date I have eleven stories in publication and he's my biggest fan.
Q: How are you feeling now that your latest book is out & on tour?
I'm on cloud nine!
Q: How does your family feel about you being a published author?
I am blessed to have a very supportive family.
Q: What inspires you to write?
One word inspires me to write…Romance!
Q: Describe your book in 3 words?
Romance, Paranormal, and Awesome.
Q: Out of all of your books do you have a favorite character or couple?
That's a tough question since I have a fondness for all my characters/couples.
Q: Are you currently working on a new book at this time?
Yes, I'm working on story with three incredibly talented authors about four handsome brothers who lose their dad and inherit an old lodge and beachfront property in Nova Scotia. They turn it into a luxurious resort. Each of us write a story about a brother who finds love in the small town of Highland Bay.
Q: Do you have a routine you follow when you write? (i.e. listen to music, sit in a certain chair or at a certain desk)
I normally play country music in the background when I write. Sometimes I move around. I might start out at my desk and go outside and continue on my iPad. I use Scrivener which makes it easy to bounce back and forth between devices.
Q: How do your stories & characters develop?
Normally I see or hear something that strikes my fancy. I throw 'what if' scenarios into the mix. Then I put generic names to my characters until their dark silhouettes becomes vivid and they raise up from the pages and I give them their real name.
Q: What was the first thing that came to your mind when your first book was published?
Yippee! Okay, that was a bit dramatic but I'm a writer. That's what I do :-)
Q: Do you have favorite author whose books you love to read?
Janelle Taylor because she was the first romance author I read. I fell in love with her historical romances.
Q: What is your favorite genre to read & write?
Hand down, it's ROMANCE! But, I can't write just sweet romance. I have to throw in a haunted house, a ghost or two, shifters or the Bermuda Triangle.
Q: How do you go about creating the most “Swoonworthy” character?
Easy. I picture them in my head. I have a good imagination. I see them walking, talking and interacting with other characters. I see the look on their face when they see their soulmate for the first time and feel their heart beat faster. They say a little of us are in our characters. I believe that to be true.
Q: Can you share something with everyone that inspires you?
My husband. It's easy to write romance when you live it each and every day.
Q: If you could have dinner with anyone in the world who would it be & why?
Janelle Taylor. I would like to thank her in person for inspiring me.
Q: As a child what did you want to do when you grew up?
I always thought I wanted to be a stewardess. But, then I got sick on a Ferris Wheel and thought that might not be a good idea. I've always enjoyed writing and started out writing stories about animals like Lassie. Then I tried my hand at horror once. But, it wasn't until I was older that I fell in love with romance. Romance makes the world go round. It can turn a bad day into a good one. I can't imagine life without romance.
Q: When did you first consider yourself a “writer”?
I first considered myself a writer when I put my first story out there for the world to read and had over 7000 downloads in the first three months and people wanted more. It's a very rewarding feeling.
Q: If you could go on a date with one of the male/female characters from a book who would it be (Character name, Book Title & Author's Name) and what would you do on that date?
It would have to be Kyle in The Homecoming written by me. It would be so awesome to watch him transform into a wolf.
Q: Do you have a favorite playlist that you listen to when you write?
I love country because most of the songs tell a love story.
Q: Do you read all the reviews for your book(s)?
Absolutely!
Q: Which do you prefer paperback, hardback or ebooks & why?
I like eBooks for the convenience. They don't take up much room. But I must say, there's no greater feeling then holding a paperback in my hand written by me. It makes it real.
Q: What are you currently reading? Are you enjoying it? What format is it in (ebook, hardback or paperback) and who is the author?
I'm not currently reading anything. But, I do read a lot. Mostly romance, but you probably already guessed that :-)
Q: When you aren't writing what do you do to relax and have fun?
When I'm not writing I'm normally emailing and texting with my fans or spending time with my husband of thirty-seven years. But he's not just my husband. He's also my best friend.
Okay now some fun ones:
Q: What are your favorite types of heroines? Do you like the damsel in distress who needs saving or the kick-ass variety? Why?
The kick-ass type! My heroines are strong willed and don't need a man to take care of them. When they fall in love, they fall hard. Yet they demand the same in return. No matter how much they care about someone they would never go after them if they didn't show a strong interest in them. They don't beg…well unless the man they desire is breathing heavily into the curve of their neck.
Q: Can you tell us about your worst date ever?
Okay. :::taking a deep breath::: In high school I was asked to a county fair by a very cute boy and after riding an incredible scary ride that spun like crazy called the 'Bullet' I threw up in the parking lot. Very embarrassing for a first date…that was also when I gave up on becoming a stewardess.
Q: What is your one “guilty pleasure”?
Bacon. I would do most anything for bacon :-)
Q: What is or was your most embarrassing moment or the craziest thing you have ever done? Come on you can’t hold out on everyone. LOL
Chasing a calf in the rain with my husband…enough said.
Q: Do you have a favorite love scene from a book or movie? Which book/movie & scene?
It has to be the movie Ghost with Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore. The pottery scene. That was hot.

Tall, dark & handsome or blonde, surfer type? Tall, dark and handsome
