Discover the untold story of the boy destined to become Peter Pan.

 EXCERPT

At least the boy was taking his task seriously, the pixie decided, watching him raise up on his toes in an effort to gain a better look inside one darkened, upstairs room. Some guardians were lazy, but this one was not, which was just as well, she noted, as the small, shadowy figure of a child exited through the window and joined him. A few seconds later, the two flew off into the night sky. The children of humans could be a handful—the ghosts of them even more so, especially when they realized they were no longer among the living. It only made sense to appoint another child to deal with their sorrow and accompany their spirits to the other side.

The source of her attention currently gone, the pixie idly kicked into the open air. Small bits of dust sprinkled each time her feet touched the open mouth of the monster she’d been making a seat of. She glanced down, noticing his bottom teeth now sparkled like gold in the moonlight, giving him an even more ferocious look.

The poor thing looked dreadful, with long curling teeth and bulging eyes—nothing at all like her own pretty, golden self. She gave him a bright smile. Likely, that was the only kindness ever given the monster forever stuck up here on the edge of this roof, so she reached down and gave his hard cheek an affectionate pat before turning her attention back to the sprawling town below. After all, she hadn’t come to save this monster. She’d come for the boy and soon he would need her—but not nearly as much as she needed him.

MY REVIEW:

PAN IS A MAGICAL RETELLING OF PETER PAN THAT WILL BRING OUT THE INNER CHILD IN YOU.  EVERYONE HAS HEARD THE STORIES OF PETER PAN.  K.R. THOMPSON DOES A WONDERFUL JOB WITH THE RETELLING OF PAN THROUGH HER PERSPECTIVE. WE LEARN WHO THE REAL PETER IS AND HOW HE CAME TO LIVE IN NEVERLAND.  I FIND HER RETELLING SO MUCH MORE BELIEVABLE AND REAL.  I CAN PICTURE AND IMAGINE THIS LOSS BOY WHO WANTS HIS MOTHER AND HUMAN LIFE BACK.  I FIND MYSELF CRYING ALONG WITH HIM AND LOOKING IN EVERY WINDOW SEEING MY MOTHER TOO.

THE STORY BEGINS IN NEVERLAND WHERE WE FIND TINK.  NEVERLAND AND THE PIXIES ARE DYING AND THERE IS ONE PIXIE BRAVE ENOUGH TO BRING A HUMAN CHILD BACK TO BELIEVE IN THEM AGAIN.  THE PIXIE IS TINK.  TINK TRAVELS FAR AWAY FROM NEVERLAND AND FINDS A HUMAN BOY WHO  LONGS TO BE HUMAN AGAIN. HE DESOLATE AND KEEPS LOOKING FOR HIS FORMER LIFE IN WINDOWS.  YOU FIND HIM CRYING AT TIMES AND CAN SEE THE PAIN IN HIS EYES.  PETER IS VERY BITTER AND UNFORGIVING AND THINKS HIS MOTHER HAS FORGOT ABOUT HIM.  CAN TINK CONVINCE HIM TO COME TO NEVERLAND AND BE A BOY AGAIN OR WILL HE REMAIN BITTER AND UNHAPPY WHERE HE IS?

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE PAN AND I LOVE K.R. THOMPSON'S WRITING.  SHE DOES A WONDERFUL JOB WITH THE RETELLING OF PAN.  SHE PORTRAYS PETER AND ALL THE CHARACTERS REALLY WELL AND HOW THEY TRULY FELT.  AT TIMES, IT WAS VERY EMOTIONAL FOR ME BECAUSE PETER IS FILLED WITH SO MUCH PAIN AND BITTERNESS, HE CAN NOT BE HAPPY.  THE ORIGINAL STORIES NEVER PORTRAYED THIS SIDE OF PETER PAN BEFORE AND IT WAS NICE TO SEE THAT HE WAS A REAL PERSON WITH A LOT OF EMOTION, PAIN AND BITTERNESS. I AM SO LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEXT BOOK IN THE SERIES. I  RECOMMEND YOU PICKUP PAN.  YOU WILL FALL IN LOVE WITH PAN AND THE AUTHOR, K.R. THOMPSON WHO IS A WONDERFUL WRITER.  I CAN WAIT TO READ MORE OF HER MAGICAL STORIES.  5 STARS
